Dr. Monica is a Southern California native. Born and raised in San Diego, naturally, she loves the water. In high school, she was a lifeguard, was a water polo goalie and was on the swim team. She volunteered to be a football manager and could be found seeking information from the team’s sideline medical assistance. She continued to play water polo in community college tournaments. While working on her undergraduate studies on her off time could be found working out with the football teams’ strength and conditioning coaches. Most recently, since beginning chiropractic school, Dr. Monica has developed a new passion for Olympic Weightlifting and is currently pursuing a coaching certification.
Before beginning her chiropractic journey, Dr. Monica took pride in her role as an exercise physiologist at SpineZone Inc., a spine rehabilitation center, in San Diego, for over two years teaching patients how to properly perform exercises while in pain and as a preventative measure. This is when she realized there was more that she could/needed to do for those in pain and to take action in a healthy life style before dis-ease takes place. Touch is powerful and her intention is to be able to facilitate healing while being a conduit of health through her hands, in addition to changing the perception of pain and injury by educating people to move often and move well.

The Vibe
Before beginning my chiropractic journey, I took great pride in my role as an exercise physiologist. It was during this time that I provided extensive teaching to patients related to the proper performance of exercises for both rehabilitation and preservation of function. This is when I realized that there is more that can be done, and needs to be done, for patients with pain related to injury and/or disease. I was inspired by the acute management of pain, but more so by the power of prevention. While working in this capacity over several years, I fully realized that the key to managing and preventing pain is through movement.
Human touch is powerful. It is an important modality utilized within the chiropractic realm. Moreover, it is one that I adopt and utilize in my personal practice. Touch and massage provide unique stimuli to the body, which is transmitted through the central nervous system. This extends the healing power of local therapy to rest of the system. Touch and massage are highly regarded forms of supportive and palliative therapy across the board within the medical field. Touch is highly utilized as a complementary therapy to both Western and Eastern medical management of acute and chronic diseases, management and prevention of injuries, anxiety and stress. There are endless therapeutic applications of human touch.
Having completed well over a thousand hours of dedicated time to holistic studies and massage, I have seen its power and therapeutic range. Through human touch and the utilization of my Chiropractic background, my aim is to alleviate symptoms while possibly reducing the adverse effects of traditional therapy while improving general well-being and quality of life. This comes with little possibility of unwanted side effects or injury while at the same time yields positive outcomes. This is important to me as a clinician. I believe in the potential of human touch and its efficacy of healing.
Chiropractic care is a multifaceted specialty that I believe can help augment or restructure commonly overlooked aspects of out everyday lives. Along with the traditional elements of Chiropractic care, I believe that a holistic view of the whole patient is vitally important. My intention is to facilitate care through education while being a conduit of health with my hands. I am dedicated to changing the perception of pain and injuries within my practice for the benefits and longevity of my patients’ health. To one and to all: move often and move well.
